Two years ago, I was lucky enough to stay at the complex due to my friendship with the owners´ daughters, Irida and Sofia. Two girls who will win your heart from the first minute you meet them. With tourism-related studies and knowledge, Iris has created what she has been dreaming of for years! “I have 9 years of experience in touristic businesses in Patmos, other islands, and Arachova. I decided to incorporate all this knowledge gained and create what precisely I was dreaming of”.
Her sister, Sofia is an actress and the person that all guests seem to adore, thanks to her temperament and sociability. Besides, the success of a business depends on many factors which, as it seems, the Kostara family has managed to have. As for the parents? They are professional tour guides and know what Greek hospitality really means! ”We have tried to maintain the natural environment to a large extent, we have kept rocks in the guest houses. Stone prevails everywhere. From the flower beds to the outdoor walls that embrace the property, so as to fit in the surroundings. There is no cement found here”.
During my stay, I was waking up early in the morning, due to my beloved smell of the flowers. There are so many gardens that dad has been taking care of over the past 20 years. This is what is so special about it. Great portions of the natural environment, large verandas with panoramic views, all set in a special location”, says Iris.
Blue Vista Patmos: a special shelter on the island of Patmos
It all began 20 years ago when the Kostara family made a wonderful house. The parents had been working on the island of the Apocalypse as they call it, as tour guides and although they had no roots there, they built this “diamond” in one of the most beautiful parts of the island. However, the crisis in Greece, a few years ago, made them think of exploiting professionally the house.
“Economical crisis contributed to making this decision and making the best of our villas. At the same time, due to the large circle of acquaintances that my father has, many people he knew as well as his friends, came along bringing their friends as well. As a formality, they were leaving money to feel more comfortable. We saw how much they liked it and we made the decision. So, the first year we started with Airbnb, and straightaway they were rented, we had many bookings, things we did not expect at all to happen. So, over the last two years, we have mainly french and Italian guests”.
As for the name? It was named by the fact that there is a view of the sea from all points of the apartments, so we have blue vista and Patmos to determine the place, the island”.
Blue Vista Patmos: Privacy and Security
Blue Vista Patmos is found 350m away from Meloi beach while in five minutes of driving you are found in the center of the island, where all restaurants, stores, and bars are located. It offers a seasonal outdoor pool, garden, air-conditioned units with balconies, and free Wi-Fi. All units have a patio, a fully equipped kitchen with a fridge, a sitting-room with a sofa, flat-screen TV, and a private bathroom with a hairdryer. Also, you will find an oven, cooktop, boiler, and coffee maker.
Villa Sofia and Villa Margarita
The complex consists of two villas and two studios. Villa Sofia, which covers 140sm, is separated into three apartments, a 4bed, a 3bed, and a twin bed which has their proper kitchen, dining table, bathroom, independent entrance, and balcony. “They can be rented all together as it’s convenient for groups of 9-10 persons, families or friends, or they can be rented separately”. Their decoration is modern with intense minimal details. It is light-colored, with beige and white prevailing in both sitting-room and kitchens.
Villa Margarita, which covers 200sm, reminds us of the traditional houses in Patmos, with dark colors, antique furniture, arches, and wood. It consists of a pool, barbecue, and ping pong table while along with the villa, you can also rent the two studios. It can host up to 10 people, either two families or a large group of friends. The first studio covers 40sm and has a double bed, sitting room, bathroom, small kitchen, and a veranda. The second one is a bit smaller with a double bed bedroom, kitchen, and a small bathroom.
Blue Vista Patmos: Services and facilities
Staying at Blue vista Patmos is the ideal option given that most people who wish to book their vacations, opt for villas due to their privacy and security provided. “As far as the cleaning is concerned, each apartment will stay empty with open windows for at least one day. We will strictly comply with all hygiene protocols, so as to have total control and this is the reason why we will not be hiring staff. There is no need to say, that from our side, we can provide cleaning products to the guest, for his personal use, if he wishes to”.
When looking for a hotel, every traveler guest pays great attention to the reviews. Blue Vista Patmos has won many points concerning to that and all guests have ended up being friends with the Kostara family. “Anything the guest may need, he can let us know, at any time and we will help him. We want him to feel at home. It has happened to transfer guests at the place they wanted to, in cases they didn’t drive or they could not find a car to rent. We are here for them, for anything they may need”.

It’s likely that one looks at the photos and the idyllic place and thinks that the prices will be forbidden, but certainly, this is not the case. The owners have tried to create a network of repetitive guests, and that is why they keep their prices at low levels, compared to the competition. Also, the guests can communicate in English, German, Italian, and Spanish in case that reservations concern specific European countries.
Sights in the surrounding area
Blue Vista Patmos is found in an exceptional location, central and remote at the same time, as one would say. Everything is really close, in 5 minutes you are found on Meloi beach, where you can enjoy the sea and later on have your meal in a tavern. Also, you can visit the most known beaches of the island, avoiding the traffic found in the center of Skala. The complex is 1,1km away from Agrio Livadi beach and 2,3km from Kampos beach.
